The Important Role of Western PA African Americans in the Civil War

The Lawrence County Historical Society (LCHS), in recognition of Black History Month, is proud to present its upcoming speaker event, The Important Role of Western PA African Americans in the U.S. Civil War.
Speaker Michael Kraus, a well-known Civil War historian, currently works as curator/historian for Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum in Pittsburgh PA. Michael grew up in New Castle, graduated from Neshannock High School in 1972 and was an early member of the Lawrence County Historical Society. Mr. Kraus’ accomplishments include several historical consultant credits for major films – Gettysburg and Cold Mountain – as well as authoring articles and books regarding the Civil War.
