Join Sarah Goodman, Museum Educator, PA Historical and Museum Commission, for an informative presentation that chronicles the birth of the American oil industry in 1859 by Colonel Edwin Drake.
Goodman’s presentation will provide an insight into the birth and growth of the oil and gas industries in the Titusville area.
- Learn how Seneca Oil Company developed a way to produce more ‘rock oil’ from the ‘Oil Creek’ and the commercially successful well drilled by Drake on August 27, 1859.
- Learn about the rich history of the Drake Well and the Oil Region located in the Titusville PA area.
